Team across the globe encouraged us by adding more than 2 MILLION KMS For The Cause of UN SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS, About 1350 participants shows their commitment towards this cause.  A yearlong event created using Endomondo app to spread the UN Sustainable development goals.  Suthakaran and team coordinating this event and take it to many of us.   Salutations to their efforts;

Greetings from team FTC and GLD Movement.

FOR THE CAUSE – Is a Public Awareness Drive For Positive Change. This initiative born few years back to create the awareness among the public through online events, school students, college students and public awareness meets.

From the learning and considering future needs now we are motivated to consider very important and challenging vision (it means opportunity for us) of taking “GLOBAL SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS” to every individuals through active participation. [ https://sustainabledevelopment.un.org/ ]

In order to make this vision successful, various options created to spread the message and we also open to receive your suggestion and guidance to take it forward.

With in a week of introduction we received more positive response from everyone. We are happy to share that the overall commitment given by our volunteers for now have reached 20,000km by walk, run and cycle.

World Food Day -2015 : FOR THE CAUSE 5K RUN AND AWARENESS DRIVE

As part of World Food Day – 2015, GLD Movement organize “For The Cause 5K Run”  and Awareness drive.

About World Food Day:

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) celebrates World Food Day on 16 October, the day on which the Organization was founded in 1945. Each year it is celebrated by more than 150 countries worldwide.

The 35th observance of World Food Day, which this year will commemorate the 70th Anniversary of the founding of FAO, will be celebrated at Expo Milano.

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and the Director-General of FAO José Graziano da Silva will be joined by the President of the Republic of Italy and the Italian Ministers for Agriculture and Foreign Affairs for the official opening ceremony.

Falling in an opportune moment, just after the Summit in September 2015 and before the United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP21), World Food Day promises to be one of Expo’s most important events. It will be a unique opportunity to send a strong message to young people – the Zero Hunger Generation – on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and to engage them in the challenge of sustainably eradicating hunger and poverty over the next 15 years.

The official ceremony will commemorate FAO’s 70th Anniversary and address the theme for World Food Day 2015, “Social Protection and Agriculture: Breaking the Cycle of Rural Poverty”, and how this links with the UN theme for Expo 2015, “The Zero Hunger Challenge · United for a sustainable world”.

Highlights of the ceremony will include the official presentation of the Milan Charter to the UN Secretary-General, a manifesto that engages all citizens in the fight against undernourishment, malnutrition and waste, while promoting equal access to natural resources and sustainability. The Milan Urban Food Policy Pact, where Mayors worldwide commit to coordinating international food policies, is another important legacy document that will be presented. In addition to the keynote speakers, the Heads of IFAD and WFP will speak during the ceremony and guests will hear a few words from Pope Francis.

Other World Food Day events on 16 October with the participation of the UN Secretary-General and FAO Director-General include “Zero Hunger Generation”, an interactive question and answer session with students exploring the crucial role that young people will play in achieving the newly adopted Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and “Finance for Food”, organised by the Italian Ministry of Economy and IFAD.

Greetings from GLD Movement.

Hope all of you getting ready for the festival session irrespective of which part of the world we are living. From GLD Movement, we are glad to share our greeting to you and your family member on this occasion .

We also like to share our happiness that we already initiated the 2015 related activities in collaboration with various walk of life. The first one and interesting one we like to share with all is an Year Long Event during 2015 going to happen in collaboration with Library, Redhills [Near to Chennai] Please find the invitation displayed at library. Through this program school, college students and any common public will get benefited directly. We predict / estimate this program will reach at least 1000 – 1500 people next year.

Our special thanks and salutation to Mr.Bashkar Librarian Redhills,Chennai . Hope you also like to initiate such activities in your area, if so please let us know to share our vision and successfully implement in your area.
